About the event
You are invited to a special advance screening of "Learn the Words, Bitch!" This documentary short film chronicles the beloved lip sync contest held at Akbar on the first Monday of every month and hosted by Silver Lake Icon Tony Soto. This film is SEVEN years in the making, and the filmmakers are incredibly excited for you to finally have the opportunity to see it.
The screening is on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Thymele Arts venue. Doors will open at 5:30pm and the film will begin at 6:15pm. The film is 38 minutes long, and will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A panel featuring Tony Soto, Maxwell Esposito, director Monique Durán, producer Ev Durán, and moderated by Guy Branum. Following the end of the event at 7:30pm, guests are welcome to continue the party at Akbar.
